Operating Instructions

Operating the Belt Impulse Cutter is quite simple.  Machine was designed such that a Remote Access Switch activates the Cutter.  Locate 8 continuous belts side-by-side such that each belt flows through the Belt Impulse Cutter.  Make sure that each belt flows between Anvil section and pneumatically activated impulse cutter section.

To activate cutting process, close the Remote Access Switch (provided by EME) which inputs a signal to the Omron Zen PLC processor to begin cutting.  FYI ... the Belt Impulse Cutter can be activated from the Omron Zen PLC processor by rapidly pressing the “4” button twice.

PLC programming is quite complex, and as a result there are only two parameters that can be changed.  T4 and T9 ... both timers.  T4 is the Cutting Time or the amount of time (measured in seconds) that the impulse wire is ON.  eme564-ma-smplesThe higher T4 is, the more heat is applied.  Factory default setting for T4 is 0.4 seconds.  Factory default settings for T4 and T9 resulted in best quality cuts; i.e., no ‘spiders.’

T9 is the Clamp Delay and is the amount of time (measured in seconds) that the clamping pressure is delayed before activation.  Cutting is best attained by first introducing heated wire to the belt material, then after the Cutting Time and a short delay (Clamp Delay), belt material near the cut is mechanically moved apart.  When T9 is set at factory default, T9 is 0.5 seconds which means that the delay before separating the cut belt is 0.5 seconds minus

cut time of 0.4 seconds, or 0.1 seconds.

Click Play (Insert on Left) to view operating demo.

After the cut is completed, the belt material below the Belt Impulse Cutter will drop to the floor or other capture unit by gravity.  The belt material above the Belt Impulse Cutter will continue to flow through the Cutter until the next Remote Access signal activates the Belt Impulse Cutter.

In case of an emergency, push in the emergency E-Stop Switch located on the Control Panel.  Allow 10 seconds to pass after resetting the E-Stop Switch.
